This is an update for our previous case containing the 2015 data. Sedac published their 2020 estimates. So we created a new version.
We used the data from SEDAC / CIESIN. It's a gridded set with a count of people for roughly every square kilometer on earth.
The dark lines you see represent the total amount of people on either that latitude (vertical axis) or longitude (horizontal axis).
Please know that the translation from the original data to this map is not perfect. So a slight missallignment might be the case in some areas.
The map used is from Wikipedia.
